I am Kees and I am addicted to mountain hiking and photography
Fortunately, my addiction does not affect my health and I can talk about it to those around me.
My addiction began when my parents took me and my sister to Sankt Johann in Tyrol. The view of the Kitzbüheler Horn is etched in my memory. I fell over in amazement that something existed as big as that mountain. At nineteen, I set out on my own for the first time: the infamous GR20 in Corsica. Despite the fact that I had somewhat underestimated the trek, I fell in love with mountain hiking.
By now I have already covered thousands of kilometers on foot through the mountains. Among other hikes, I walked across the Alps on my way from Munich to Venice, covered over 800 kilometers on the GR11 through the Spanish Pyrenees, walked from Chamonix to Zermatt and more recently the Alta Via 1 through the Dolomites and the entire Kungsleden through northern Sweden. Furthermore, I also returned twice to the GR20 in Corsica. You can read more about my trips on my hiking blog casehikes.com, where I share my passion for hiking and try to save new hikers from my own beginner's mistakes.
In 2019, together with five friends, I founded UBoulder, the Netherlands' first bouldering club. In the three years I was on the board, UBoulder grew to over 150 members despite the Covid pandemic. Besides my regular board duties, I was also responsible for organizing group trips (up to 34 people) abroud.
More recently, I also became addicted to photography. This happened after I finished my Master's in Journalism at VU University and finally had money for something as frivolous as a camera (not to mention the lenses). I now work as a photographer and videographer for Utrecht University and can also be booked as a freelancer for all kinds of photo shoots and events.
With Kees' Photo Tours I would like to share my favorite spots with you, fellow photographer and mountain lover. I do this in my own unique way. Instead of just sticking to the popular and Insta-famous hot spots, I like to take you to quieter places. Places that are just as or even more beautiful. We often do this on foot, because what are the chances that the most beautiful view is only 100 meters from the gondola or parking lot?
