JOIN US IN THE UNDISCOVERED CORNERS OF THE DOLOMITES

The Dolomites need no introduction. The magnificent peaks, picturesque valleys and cute little churches are now world famous. This is precisely why I like to show you another face of the Dolomites. Unknown valleys with free-flowing rivers, lonely mountain passes and beautiful forests with gurgling streams are the heart of this photo journey. Will you take the adventure with me?

Late September is the best time to visit the Dolomites. The capricious autumn weather often leads to beautiful light and the first autumn colors show themselves. This colorful kaleidoscope of color and light is the ultimate experience for any landscape photographer!

To make the most of the trip, we travel around the Dolomites. We stay in luxury hotels and picturesque mountain huts close to the photo spots, so we can easily shoot the golden hour.

TRAVEL SCHEDULE

The workshop starts on Saturday afternoon at 15:00 at Innsbruck's main train station. There I will pick you and your traveling companions up to begin the adventure.

We rijden meteen door naar ons hotel op de prachtig gelegen Würzjoch. Deze bergpas biedt meerdere prachtige composities en is nog onbekend bij het grote publiek. Omdat er zoveel te zien en te doen is, blijven we hier twee nachten. Tijdens de avondshoot brengen we de dubbele piek van de Peitlerkofel in beeld met onze groothoeklens.

Na een prachtige ochtendshoot naast ons hotel dalen we af naar Val di Funes om daar de bekende San Giovanni kerk te fotograferen. De middag brengen we door op de Fornella Alm, waar we alvast naar composities zoeken voor de avondshoot.

Op maandag rijden we na de laatste ochtendshoot naar een hotel op de afgelegen Passo Rolle. Deze bergpas ligt in een onbekend deel van de Dolomieten en biedt een overdonderend uitzicht op de Pale Dolomiti di San Marino. Het avondlicht fotograferen we in het nabij gelegen Val Venegia.

Dinsdag staat onze eerste huttenovernachting op het programma. Deze keer slapen we twee nachten in de Croda da Lago hut. Deze hut heeft een schitterende ligging aan het Federa meer, bekend om haar prachtige weerspiegelingen. Omdat we er twee dagen blijven, is er tijd om de omgeving verkennen. Wie wil, kan mee wandelen naar een diep ravijn met klaterende beek, een grote waterval diep in het bos of naar een onbekende bergpas met grootse uitzichten.

Op donderdag reizen we af naar het bekende Drei Zinnen massief. Hier fotograferen we het populaire uitzichtspunt van de Cadini di Misurina. Deze fotospot is erg druk, maar is door het overweldigende uitzicht en eindeloze foto-opties toch de moeite meer dan waard.

Vrijdag fotograferen we het ochtendlicht bij Lago D'Antorno en rijden we daarna omhoog naar onze laatste overnachtingsplek vlak bij Passo Giau. Onderweg maken we een uitstap naar een pittoreske waterval in een prachtig bos. Na de check in en lunch in de berghut op de Malga Giau alm rijden we omhoog naar Passo Giau. Deze spectaculaire pas biedt talloze uitzichten en composities.

The last day we photograph one more sunrise before returning to Innsbruck. Here we arrive before 3 p.m.

- Je hebt een goede basisconditie en prima balans. Bergpaden zijn nooit vlak en soms moeten we een stuk lopen naar de fotospot. Om de Croda da Lago hut te bereiken moeten we met bepakking 200 meter stijgen.

What makes this trip special are the accommodations. Each accommodation is in a beautiful location at or near a photo spot. This allows us to easily shoot the golden hour in the morning and evening. We spend the night in a combination of luxury hotels and rustic mountain huts. In the hotels you share the room with a travel companion, in the huts you sleep in a dormitory.

IN THE BERGHUT

In mountain huts, accommodation is a bit more primitive. You sleep in bunk beds and with three or more people per room. Showers are brief. What you give up in luxury, however, you get back in charm, not to mention the views.

HOTELS

To relax, we will stay in luxury hotels with delicious Italian and South Tyrolean cuisine.

All my photo trips are suitable for photographers of any level. Because the groups are small, I have time to guide everyone personally. In the field, I take you through all aspects of landscape photography. From planning, to light, lens choice, camera technique and composition.
